The challenge
The client needed the full site package for a new retail store priced as three separate bids: the on-site work, off-site utility connections, and roadway work in the state Department of Transportation right-of-way, each with its own general conditions and overhead.
The approach
Civil sheets were taken off division by division: demolition, clearing and grading (stripping, cut, fill and export), erosion control, concrete paving, sidewalks, curbs, retaining walls and site furnishings. Storm, water and sanitary utilities were measured by pipe size and material, with every structure, valve and fitting counted. The packaged sewage lift station was broken into its individual components so nothing was missed.
The outcome
The client received three bid-ready estimates in one workbook, each organized by CSI division with drawing references for every line, so scope could be checked against the plans and each package submitted separately.
